Also good for cradle cap

Our son had the most horrible case of cradle cap. The pediatrician's office suggested this cream. Don't be fooled by the photo the jar is very small but the salve is very concentrated. The texture and color looks like vaseline but actually is much thinner when spread on and absorbs easier. There is only the faintest smell and not mediciney either. The ingredients contain shea butter and calendula.



It has really helped with the cradle cap severely diminishing the horrible weeping/scaling/flakiness of the condition.More detail ...

The BEST Zinc Oxide Cream for Diaper Rash

All zinc oxide creams for diaper rash have the same active ingredient in approximately the same concentration. The difference lies in how well it stays on your baby's skin. Triple Paste is a thick paste that while easy to apply actually stays on the skin. All other diaper rash creams end up on the diaper not on the skin because they wipe off so easily.

This cream is a lifesaver. Triple Paste along with original A+D Ointment are all you need at your changing table. I use original A+D Ointment at bedtime as a preventative and Triple Paste if a rash actually develops. If Triple Paste doesn't clear it up there's probably yeast present and you'll need to consult your doctor.

Heals dry hands - Nurses perspective

As a nurse I wash my hands several hundred times a day it seems. Even with the hospitals using moisturizing soaps my skin gets very dry. I bought this little jug and take it to work with me. It is amazing how well it can moisturize my VERY dry hands. In the winter I get cracks on the outside of my palms without fail every year. I take this cream and let it sit on the crack for as long as I can. By the next day or so the crack has healed enough to be more manageable.



Several patients have this cream prescribed to them by their doctors its so good.



I highly recommend this cream to everyone that suffers from dry cracked skin!

My daughter had some irritation because she is breastfed and poops more often so that combined with frequent wipings made her bum a little irritated. I tried other brands and they didn't help much at all and almost all of them contain fish oil or mineral oils. Burts is all natural and it works! Our dermatologist recommended this sun screen as the best protection and it works very well. It seems to be great protection we have never had a sun burn. There is a big downside though: it is very difficult to apply and we always struggle with our toddler when we put it on him. It takes a long time until the white film is smeared in and we always have white marks on clothes the stroller bags etc... It did not work so well for my baby

i started using this lotion on my 15 month because of reviews i read about it. First of all i loved the smell absorbs easily into the skin..my babys skin was not oily after application his skin looked soo radiant and smooth he looked fresh after hours of application.But after a weeki noticed he developed rashes at his backand on his face. it was not severe but it never occured with the his previous lotion. His old lotion is too oily and fragrant free but it worked well with his eczema and irritations. Good sun protection but thick white texture

I bought this sunscreen after reading about its improved protection against both UV A and UV B.

I have no complaints about the sun protection - it seems to work though of course a true test of protection is long-term sun damage avoidance and not from a few days' use.

But I dont like the texture of the cream. First it is not a lotion but a cream. By which I mean its semi-solid and does not blend well on the face. I tried using a lotion moisturizer blended with this sunscreen to make it blend better but its not easy.

Second the sunscreen is very whitish and looks that way even after applying very little of it. So if you are somewhat tanned and apply this cream it will show up in whitish streaks on your face that do not sink in.

I also tried applying mineral makeup on top of this to reduce the white-out look but the camouflage does not work too well.

Third the sunscreen is not marked as 'non-comedogenic (does not block pores) so that might be an important factor for you to consider if you tend to have large pores whiteheads or blackheads.



Summary: if you are going to spend a long time in the sun and want a high performance sunscreen use this one. If you want something more mild for daily use try out the SPF 15 version of this same brand or look elsewhere.More detail ...

The best nursing pads available

As a nursing mother I have tried many brands of nursing pads and found what I was looking for in the Johnson & Johnson brand. Unlike Medela or Lansinoh these pads are a little smaller in circumference and do not bunch up inside your bra. They are very soft and absorbent wicking moisture or leakage into the center of the pad and leaving your skin dry and thus healthy. You can typically expect to pay $6 or $7 for a month's supply (60 pads) and you don't have to deal with unwrapping each individual pad as you must with other brands. I've seen other reviewers claim that this is unsanitary but I beg to differ. If you keep the pads face down in the box with the lid closed you need not worry about them becoming "contaminated." Besides you are not putting these on an open wound they serve merely as a vehicle to prevent you from embarrassing leaks. Each pad also comes with an adhesive strip on the back though I have never found occasion to use them. They are convex in shape for a perfect fit and because of an indention that allows space for the nipple there is no uncomfortable "pressing" or shifting around. They simply stay in place even without using the adhesive.

If you are planning to nurse for a long period of time these are the best product for your buck. I use nothing else and could not recommend them more highly.More detail ...

The best for kids when they're playing in the water!

Talk about sun protection! I had my three year old and my 1.5 year old twins at the swimming pool this summer applied this 30 minutes before exposure had them out there for three hours in 80+ degree heat swimming and NO SUNBURNS. You don't need to apply it so liberally the skin stays white just put enough on to cover -- a little bit goes a VERY long way. (If your skin stays white and you can't rub it in you've applied way too much.) You'll see some white on the skin again when they get wet but it goes away. Any that is left on my hands after applying to the kids I put on my own face. Very water resistant and has super protection. Wonderful stuff it's safe smells good and I never have any trouble washing it off. Again... a little bit goes a long way. It's the best out there!More detail ...

best all around value

This is the second year I've used this sunscreen since it was rated in the top ten in EWG testing last year. I see it's down to #20 this year (out of 469 tested!) but the competition has really heated up for nontoxic effective sunscreens. I burn easily and have never gotten a burn while using it and on occasion that has meant going out in direct summer sun all day long.

I'm giving it 4 stars rather than 5 because it does take a bit of effort to apply. I find it's important to squeeze out just enough to coat. If I get it on too thickly it can be tricky to spread or remove some so there's not a thick white coating. That being said it's not really not that difficult.

Considering that the price is about half of the comparable highly rated sunscreens it's a great value and it's the only sunscreen I use.More detail ...

My favorite cleaner!

I highly recommend Dr. Bronner's Unscented. I started using it in a spray bottle with baking soda and water because it does not trigger my migraines and when I realized how well it cleaned I started using it to clean pretty much everything in my home.



The scents and chemicals in mainstream cleaners were causing such severe migraines that I could not clean my house. Newer `green' cleaners from Clorox and the like did not help either because of the fragrances. I learned about Dr. Bronner's and gave it a try. The scented versions are too strong for me so I stick with the unscented. Most of my friends like the unscented too because they can add whatever essential oils they need (or are in the mood for) to clean.



Information on the internet for green cleaning is all over the place and there is a lot of bad advice out there. I recommend getting a book on green cleaning that will bring all of the information together - check one out from your library or purchase one if you've got a little extra money. For a basic over view of green cleaning I recommend Jill Potvin Schoff's Green Up Your Cleanup (The Green House). For a comprehensive book with a lot of depth try Renee Loux's Easy Green Living: The Ultimate Guide to Simple Eco-Friendly Choices for You and Your Home. (I have written reviews on both books.)



The only things I do not use this soap for are washing my hair and doing the dishes. I have really oily hair and the castile soap leaves it very stringy and with a lot of oil in it. I've got several friends who use it as shampoo and they do not have the same problem that I do. I also do not use it for dishes because it is more cost effective for me to get Seventh Generation dish products from Amazon's Subscribe & Save program. As a side note Dr. Bronner's works great with oxygen bleach (like OxyClean) for laundry but I use Seventh Generation laundry soap and oxygen bleach instead because it is more cost effective per load.



Yes the writing on the bottle is kooky but nothing says you have to read it. This castile soap works better then any other castile soap I've tried. I do not normally spend money with companies that speak in terms of religion but given the safeness and effectiveness of the product combined with their IMO certified fair trade practices to purchase organic ingredients I don't care WHAT the label says.



The product contains: water saponified organic coconut & olive oils organic glycerin organic hemp oil organic jojoba oil citric acid and Vitamin E.

Strengths and weaknesses

I was looking for a safe effective sunsreen for my trip to Southeast Asia this summer. Here are what I think are the strengths and weaknesses for this product

Strengths:

1 Many non-chemical sunscreens actually fail to live up to their SPF but I do think it successfully protected my skin in the worst UV environment. (But I also used hats and such)

2 It is relatively safe for my skin. It didn't make my skin break out.



Weaknesses:

1 THE greasiest sunscreen I ever experienced. It's ok when you're out hiking or at the beach but when I went out to see friends they often commented on how much I was "sweating." When I really did sweat it made the cream turn white and visible (dotty on my face).

2 As it's noted on Skin Deep Cosmetic safety database it's not perfectly safe. While I didn't have any breakouts my face (not my body) got itchy wearing this. But I was able to get around it by putting on a moisturizer before applying this.

3 It's pretty tough to wash off. Though it's not waterproof after I washed my body I could still smell it and see it on my skin (showing up white especially in wrinkly area).



Despite the problems I think I might use it again next summer (at least on my body) because I haven't been able to find a better safe high SPF sunscreen. Other ones don't make my face shiny but make my face look all white.

Best Sunscreen Ever!

I love this sunscreen. It is not greasy or smelly or full of crap that no one needs all over the largest organ of their bodies (their skin). I love it especially for my 11 month old daughter. It works wonderfully and I can feel secure knowing that her skin is not absorbiing a bunch of chemicals.
